Google Gemini for Android: Song Recognition Arrives (iOS Soon!)

The Long-Awaited Feature Has Finally Arrived: You Can Now Ask Gemini “What Song Is This?” The Gemini app on Android can now identify playing music using Google’s Song Search feature. Google has rolled out this new feature for Android devices. Support is not yet active on iOS, but it’s expected to arrive soon.
Google has finally added the long-awaited feature to the Gemini app on Android. Now, when you ask your phone “What song is this?”, it can identify the playing music. This innovation seems to have been implemented before Google Assistant is completely phased out towards the end of the year.

When Android users now think, “I wish I could find this song,” Gemini automatically activates Google’s Song Search feature. The familiar wavy globe appears on the screen, and after a brief listen, the results are displayed via Google Search. There’s also an option at the bottom of the screen to cancel the search if you wish. iOS users are waiting.
The feature isn’t fully integrated into Gemini itself yet; meaning the results aren’t shown directly within the app. But at least now, instead of lengthy explanations, it directs the user directly to a useful result. Previously, Google Assistant handled this task. After switching to Gemini, users had to manually open Song Search for a while to find out what song was playing.
For now, this innovation is only available for Android users. When you ask “What song is this?” on the iPhone, the song recognition screen still doesn’t open. There is currently no clear information on when Google will bring this feature to iOS.
